Where to Eat on New Year’s Eve
Where to Eat on New Year’s Eve
New Year’s Eve is just around the corner so you’d better start thinking about the important stuff now… like where you’re going to eat! Whether you’re looking for something casual before you head off to a party or a place to hang out at the strike of midnight, we’ve got some ideas for you. One thing’s for sure, restaurants will be filling up fast so make sure you call for a reservation soon!
Yusho– $100 (+$50 beverage pairing), 8 courses. The menu will consist of interpretations of traditional NYE dishes from Japan’s largest cities.
Trenchermen– $50 (+$20 beverage pairing), 3 courses or At 9:30 only $85 (+$40 beverage pairing), 5 courses. There’s no telling what the Sheerin brothers have up their sleeves for this menu but rumor has it there’s a foie gras stuffed trotter with lentils and caviar. Enough said.
Sprout– $85, 5 courses. Chef Dale Levitski’s twists on French classics include Lobster Bisque with Cognac, Gnocchi with black truffles & Quail with foie gras. This is one man who never disappoints!
Avec– $60 (+$30 beverage pairing), 4 courses. Antipasti, fennel-saffron seafood stew & Moroccan roasted pork shoulder are all on the menu but if you’re looking for a little more decadence, add oysters and caviar for an additional $35.
Blackbird– $120 ($65 wine pairing), 8 courses
Longman & Eagle– $95, 5 courses or At 10:30 only, $125, 8 courses with champagne toast
Slurping Turtle– $45 or $60, 5 course or $80, 9 courses. There’s lots of good stuff on all 3 tasting menus including sashimi, bincho grilled foie gras, ribeye and scallops and choices of noodle dishes. You’re also sure to be entertained by the Godzilla movie playing on the concrete wall inside, the Japanese Big Drum sounding off and the wandering turtle characters throughout the restaurant.
By the way, Slurping Turtle is also having a New Years Day Pajama Party! Diners donning PJ’s will enjoy complimentary cinnamon brioche donut holes from Pastry Chef Courtney Joseph. Additionally, all pajama-clad guests will be given gift certificates valued at 50% of their total bill for their next visit. Participating guests will not be alone – Slurping Turtle’s managers will be sporting robes and the employees will be working the floor in PJ’s. How fun is that?!
Girl and the Goat-$225, appetizers and open bar (beer, wine and a signature cocktail), and a champagne toast. The party goes from 8:30 to 1:30a with food stations and passed hors d’oeuvres along with a DJ and dance floor so people can “get down with their bad selves”. Hey, it’s just what I heard.
Takashi– $88, (+40 wine pairing), 7 course or after 7pm $105 (+50 wine pairing), 9 courses. French cuisine comes together with Japanese ingredients in menu items like sautéed foie gras with barbecued fresh water eel or smoked California sturgeon with fennel-apple salad. Oh yeah! It’s also Takashi’s 5-year anniversary so there’s double reason to celebrate!
