The Wood Family Foundation (WFF) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that was founded in June 2011 by Chicago Cubs pitcher Kerry Wood and his wife, Sarah. The WFF works to improve the lives of children in and around Chicago by raising funds and awareness for its children’s programs and other children’s charities they support. The WFF acts as an advocate for children in the Chicago community, inspiring others to join them in their mission of giving children the resources they need to succeed.
The Foundation is committed to working toward funding both immediate and long-term relief projects for Chicago’s youth. The Foundation’s largest initial effort involves funding a playroom for the children receiving treatment for cancer at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. The Foundation also sponsors various back to school drives to encourage school supply and clothing donations for children in need. Current Wood Family Foundation programs include a summer baseball clinic and Warm Wishes, a toy and coat drive for CPS schools in our four targeted neighborhoods.
